ASHLAND 10-4

   Ashland opened with a 7-0 lead over Russell and Julia Parker was torching the nets. Parker finished with 27 points behind a 6 of 10 night from downtown but in the end, Russell found an answer for a 49-44 win. Mikayla Martin added 10 points and eight rebounds. 

   Ashland traveled to Boyd County on Monday and welcomes Mason County on Thursday. 

BOYD COUNTY 10-6

   Boyd County turned in a pair of convincing wins this week, knocking off East Carter and Minford, OH in dominant fashion. 

   Boyd County throttled the red-hot East Carter Lady Raiders 78-43 with Harley Paynter’s hot night leading the way. Paynter had 24 points and was a perfect 4 of 4 from long range. Emma Borders had 15 points and was 3 of 5 from behind the arc. Aubrey Biggs added 15. 

   Isabella Caldwell paced the Lady Lions with 12 points in a 60-31 win over Minford. Borders had 10. Paynter and Biggs each grabbed 10 rebounds. 

   Boyd County entertained Ashland on Monday night and travels to Fairland on Saturday to play in the Tri-State Hoops Showdown against Sheridan, OH. 

FAIRVIEW 13-2

   Fairview returned to its winning ways after falling twice last week with wins over Greenup County and Raceland in the All “A” Classic. 

   Jordan Rakes’ 27 points led the Lady Eagles over the Lady Musketeers. Gracie Crisp had 14 points. Jordan Meeks had 10. 

   Fairview knocked off host Raceland in the opening round of the All “A” Classic Saturday, 58-49. The Lady Eagles placed three players in double figures led by Rakes with 22. Crisp added 17 and Josey Nelson 11.  

   Fairview advances to the semifinals on Tuesday against Elliott County hoping to avenge the 54-51 loss to the Lady Lions last week. 

ROSE HILL 7-6

   Rose Hill dropped both contests this week over Green, OH and Bath County in the All “A” Classic. 

   Delaynee Sparks 15 points were not enough to lift the Lady Royals over the Lady Bobcats. Bellamee Sparks kicked in 13 points. Baylee Trimble grabbed 13 rebounds. 

   Rose Hill fell to Bath County 62-36 in the All “A” Classic at Raceland on Saturday. Bellamee Sparks led the Lady Royals with 22 points.

   Rose Hill travels to Portsmouth on Saturday. 

RACELAND 4-10

   Raceland’s woes continued this week as the Lady Rams failed to find a much-needed win. Raceland fell to Russell 73-29, Ironton, OH 62-45 and Fairview 58-49 in the opening round of the All “A” Classic. 

   Emilee Garvin paced Raceland against Fairview with 23 points and Kierston Smith tossed in 14.

   Raceland is idle this week due to the All “A” Classic. 

RUSSELL 9-5

   Russell collected a perfect week with two rivalry wins over Raceland and Ashland and a victory over Scott. 

   Shaelyn Steele led the Lady Devils with 17 points in their 73-29 win over the Lady Rams. Malia Blevins and Aubrey Hill each had 12 points. Kaeli Ross added 10. Russell had 11 different players finish in scoring. 

   Russell battled back from down 7-0 to start the contest at Ashland and escaped with a 49-44 win over the Kittens. Steele had 18 points and eight rebounds as the eighth grader led the way. Ross tossed in 11. 

   Russell throttled Scott 72-42 to close out the week. Hill had 19 points in the win. Ross added 11. Steele and Blevins each had 10. 

   Russell welcomes Lewis County Wednesday night in a district tilt, travels to East Carter Friday night and welcomes Greenup on Saturday. 

GREENUP COUNTY 4-11

   Greenup County added a win to close its week after a pair of losses to start the week. 

   Greenup County fell to Lewis 51-34 after a massive second quarter by the Lady Lions. Lexi Carroll had 14 points for the Lady Musketeers. Greenup was 1 of 8 from downtown and 12 of 39 (30.8%) from the field. 

   Carroll’s double-double (17-10) was not enough to complete the upset of Fairview as Greenup County fell 62-52. Lauren Hannah had 12. The Lady Musketeers shooting woes continued going 2 of 14 from long range. 

   Greenup County bounced back with a 69-43 win over Newport on Saturday. 

   Greenup County welcomed Martin County on Monday night and travels to South Point Wednesday and Russell on Saturday.
