Cash Compliment didn’t just hit it out of the park at the local home run derby, the12-year-old hit it all the way out of the state.

On Saturday Compliment, along with his family traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, to compete in the T-Mobile Little League Home Run Derby Regional Championship.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Compliment said before his big trip. “I can’t believe I’ll be representing not only Kentucky but Ashland Little League.”

During his qualifying round which took him to regionals, Compliment had a total of 51 home runs. On Sunday Compliment secured his place in the top four in the region and will advance to the final round to be held during the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Ever since Compliment was able to play baseball, the home-run hitter has always had a passion for the sport, practicing a couple of day each week, hoping to perfect his skills.

“He loves it and is really motivated,” Compliments mother, Brandi said. “We never pressure him into doing it, but he always goes out and plays his best.”

In preparation for regionals, Compliment said he has practiced in all different types of fields in Ashland to make sure he’s ready.

“I have practiced at the waterworks field and at the AK sports Park.” Compliment said. “My dad practices with me and we go and have a good time.”

Compliment feels practicing on different fields helped to prepare him for the regional competition, where he hit 14 home runs in the third round and 31 in all making him one of four players to advance at SunTrust Field, home of the Atlanta Braves.

Trying to keep the pressure off, Compliment said he just goes out to have a good time.

“We are so excited for him,” Brandi said. “He has put in a lot of hard work and we are so proud of him. It is a big deal, but we mainly want him to have fun.”
