Entertainment, cars, crafts, and a great time is what you can expect from this year’s Labor Day Weekend events planned in Catlettsburg. The weekend will start off with a 5k run that will be held on Thursday, August 30 in which all proceeds will go to Catlettsburg Little League.
Friday will be the Mayor’s reception and the Catlettsburg High School class of 1958 reunion. Saturday will be filled with Trade Days in which vendors can come set up booths for food, arts and crafts, or anything they wish to sell. Other events going on will be Recovery Fest at the Courthouse and the CHS Reunion at Catlettsburg Elementary.
Sunday the courthouse will be hosting two church services, one in the morning and one in the evening. Following the morning service will be a free ice cream social that will include southern gospel music.
Labor Day, Monday September 3, will be a fun-filled day starting off with a pancake breakfast, a continuation of Trade Days and the parade. Anyone is welcome to be in the parade, and if you are interested please be at Oakland Avenue Baptist Church between 8:30 and 9 a.m. The parade will kick off at 10 a.m. and following this will be entertainment provided by Cameron Logan, Catlettsburg Chief of Police.
“This weekend is just a big homecoming for everybody,” said Gail Sammons who organizes this weekend every year. “People from out of town try to make it in for the event and even those who don’t live in Catlettsburg come and we all just have a great time.”
Volunteers are always welcome and booths are still available for Trade Days. If you are interested please contact Glorious Hensley at 606.739.4512.
