Robert G. "Bob" Harte
On May 5, a hero went to heaven.
Robert G. “Bob” Harte was born November 20, 1951, a son of the late George G. and Martha Frances Copley Harte. Although born in Ashland he was from his beloved Catlettsburg.
Robert was a 1969 graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School in Catlettsburg. He retired following a 32 year career with A.K. Steel, where he worked as Section Manager of Raw Materials and Iron Making. He received multiple accolades and honors during his tenure at Armco/AK Steel.
Robert was instrumental in building the AK Sports Park, Ashland Little League Field and concession stand. He was a Kentucky Colonel with a larger than life personality and willingness to help anyone in need. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his many cherished friends.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 41 years, Carol Thompson Harte of Ashland; son, Robert Gerald “Bo” Harte, II of Ashland; daughter, Christin Marie “Sis” (Joey Franklin) Harte of Ashland; brother, James David (Lianne) Harte of Miami, FL; sister, Patricia (J.C.) Vallance of Lexington; mother in law, Johnnah “Tudy” Thompson of Ashland; two sisters in laws, Cathy Burton of Bishop, GA and Carey Thompson of Ashland; two grandchildren, Gracen “Dumple” Harte and Everlee Jo Franklin; a special cousin, Mick (Vicky) Copley; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
A private graveside service was held Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Brother Gale Beaman officiating.
